Often defined as “a motor vehicle with four wheels that runs on roads and transports people” the car is one of the world’s most universal modern technologies. As such, the automobile industry is one of the largest in the world. In the United States alone, passenger cars, trucks, and aircraft account for about 70 million vehicles built each year. And according to the United States Department of Transportation, Americans drive nearly three trillion miles in their cars every year. Despite these figures, cars have been a source of environmental degradation, including greenhouse gas emissions. The industry is also responsible for destabilizing the Earth’s atmosphere.

The first film in the Cars franchise, Cars, is a computer animated comedy-adventure sports film directed and co-written by John Lasseter. The film tells the story of rookie race car Lightning McQueen as he competes in the Piston Cup Circuit. It was produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures in 2006.

In the early 1900s, electric cars had about 38 percent of the United States market. They were battery-powered, had limited range, and were inconvenient to start. In contrast, the Model T, which was produced by the Ford Motor Company, was cheap enough to be afforded by middle-class families. The Model T was manufactured using assembly lines, which reduced the price.

In the early 2000s, the average cost of a new American car increased by $4700, according to a study by Ward’s Communications Incorporated. The increase was partially attributed to the mandated emission-control requirements. Manufacturers have since improved the body, engine, and safety systems of automobiles. They have also introduced new designs more frequently. The cost of a new vehicle has increased by 29 percent between 2009 and 2019.

Cars 2 was released in 2006. The sequel, Cars on the Road, is the latest film in the Cars franchise and is scheduled to be released in September. The movie is inspired by the cartoon series Cars on the Road, which was produced by Pixar. It is scheduled to debut on Disney+ in September. In addition to the film, Cars on the Road features a soundtrack by Randy Newman.

Cars was a hit at the box office and is now available on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. The merchandise sold $10 billion in five years, breaking Disney*Pixar retail records. The film was nominated for two Academy Awards. It also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film. In addition to the movie, two spin-offs were produced.

Cars Land, located at Disney’s California Adventure Park, is themed around Route 66. The experience of Route 66 helped the filmmakers create a narrative. The park’s buildings and menu items were inspired by the road’s sights, sounds, textures, and kitsch.

The story of Cars was inspired by a cross-country road trip that John Lasseter took with his family. He sent the Disney team on fact-finding tours along Route 66. They sought to capture the warmth of the road and the sights, sounds, and textures of the highway.
