British cars are a special category of car that have a long tradition and reputation for quality. Some of the world’s best car makers were founded in Britain and continue to produce some of the most prestigious vehicles on the road today.

Aston Martin, Jaguar, MG, Morgan and Rolls-Royce are just a few of the iconic brands that have come from the UK. They make some of the world’s most beautiful and high-performance luxury sports cars, grand tourers and classic automobiles.

Bentley

Perhaps one of the most famous of all British auto makers is Bentley, a luxury and grand touring vehicle that epitomises the heritage of the UK’s auto industry. The company was established in 1919 and is renowned for its excellence on the racetrack.

Lotus

Founded by Colin Chapman, the Norfolk-based car maker was a pioneer of light weight construction in its sports cars and is still built in the UK today. Its current Elise is a fine example of the company’s design philosophy.

BMW

Another of the world’s most famous auto makers, BMW, was also based in the UK and is now owned by Malaysia’s Proton. Its latest car is the Artura, a plug-in hybrid that is built in the UK and is a major step forward for the company.

McLaren

The newest British-built automotive company is the McLaren Automotive division of BMW, which builds sports cars and supercars that have won numerous races and racing championships throughout their history. They are currently one of the world’s leading manufacturers of Formula One cars and are a major player in racing today.

Noble

Another of the finest sports car manufacturers in the world is Noble Cars, based in Leicester. They are renowned for their high performance and unrelenting style.

They are not the most affordable sports cars on the market but they are a pleasure to drive. They are a rare breed and not many people can afford to own one but that does not mean they don’t deserve to be driven.

AstonMartin

The iconic Aston Martin brand was founded in 1906 and is now owned by a company called Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd. It produces luxury and grand tourer cars that are renowned for their outstanding craftsmanship and design.

MG

The MG car brand is known for its high performance and high-quality models that are incredibly popular around the world. They are known for their performance and reliability and can be spotted on many roads across the UK.

Morgan

The Morgan car brand is a family-run business that was founded in 1939 and is still run by the same family today. It manufactures luxury and sports cars that are a delight to drive.

MG also manufactures SUVs and commercial vehicles, as well as motorcycles. They are a favourite amongst many families and offer a great deal of space and comfort for all the family.

Vauxhall

The British-made Vauxhall car brand was once one of the biggest in the world, but during the 1970s it suffered from a loss of market share. However, the brand began to enjoy an upturn in sales during the 1980s. The MK2 Cavalier, launched in 1981, was a huge success and the Astra supermini (badged as Opel Corsa on the continent) also enjoyed good sales during this period.
