Britain has a long and rich history of producing cars. It was one of the biggest car producers in the world in the 1950s, and the United Kingdom is still home to some of the best motoring brands today.

The UK’s automobile industry has come a long way since the days of horseless carriages, and now British manufacturers have a variety of vehicles to choose from. These include family cars, sports cars, and electric hypercars.

Aston Martin, Bentley, Land Rover and McLaren are among the famous British car makers that are still in business and produce vehicles made in Britain. These companies have a strong heritage in the industry and are known for their luxury, sports and ultra-luxury cars.

Jaguar F-Type – A muscular, two-seater sports car in the British sports car tradition that offers a choice of petrol or diesel engines and is also available as a convertible.

Lotus Elise – A sports car designed by maverick engineer Colin Chapman that was a huge success for the Norfolk manufacturer and was a contender in its time. The current Elise has been adapted for more everyday use and is now powered by Chinese money, but it’s still a fantastically satisfying ride with a lot to offer driver satisfaction in the right circumstances.

Vauxhall / Opel – The most famous car brand in the UK, and one of the oldest as well, has produced some of the most iconic motoring models over the decades, including the Insignia and Corsa. While its range of models doesn’t set the pulse racing in terms of performance, it does have a lot to offer in the way of reliability and quality.

Bentley – A British car brand that’s now owned by Volkswagen and was originally founded in 1904, it’s still one of the most prestigious and popular brands in the world when it comes to ultra-luxury cars. With an impressive lineup that includes the Continental GT, it’s not hard to see why.

Mini – The small and stylish British car brand is responsible for some of the most iconic cars of all time, starting with its original model in 1959 and continuing today. It started as a line of small cars and later expanded into performance versions.

Noble Cars – A Leicester-based company that produces some of the world’s most exciting sports cars, the Noble brand has been around since 1963 and was founded by former Formula One driver Mike Gascoyne. They have a very simple philosophy, which is to make their cars as fast as possible without relying on technology too much.

Rolls-Royce – The British auto maker has an interesting history, being founded in 1904 and now own by BMW. Their range of cars is known for its class and style, with some of the most desirable models being the Silver Ghost and Phantom.

There are a few other iconic British car makers that have gone on to be sold to foreign or multinational entities, but there’s no question that there are some great cars coming from the UK. Here are some of the most famous and successful:
